In Our Hands

Alcohol ink painting completed artwork no. 18

Finally I got this painting done 🥳 ! Especially for the hand part, it took quite some patience to achieve it. The physics and texturing was by far the most challenging aspect. However, by making a detour through other works that are still in progress, I could eventually acquire the necessary know-how to bring it out satisfyingly. The way of learning is ever so curious and not always straightforward, isn’t it.

Take a closer look on the details 🔎

The EDELWEISS is a flower home to both my native country as well as to Switzerland, my new place of living. In Mongolian language it is called WHITE MOUNTAIN, standing for happy, long-living. It always fascinates me, so I wanted to use it in an alcohol ink painting.

Admittedly, this painting is a bit heavy. Whereas the left hand is life-giving and providing 🌾, the right hand, the scissor hand ✂️, is symbolizing destruction of the same. The flower roots, are already part of us, running through us like veins, but not realizing the same, we sever what we have caringly tended and prepared with our destructive hands.

It lies in our own hands to maintain the balance in this world ⚖️ It is not an easy act, for giving and taking equally is the dilemma of human nature …

A quick introduction about this completed work. How I came to be inspired by the Edelweiss in next episode ! Below the comparison of Edelweiss in Mongolia ( left ) and Edelweiss in Switzerland ( right ) :

I would be happy to hear what your impressions are on this painting. You can leave me a comment and feedback 💬 To stay up-to-date with my blog posts, you can either follow my blog or subscribe for the email notifications 🔔 On social media you can find me on Instagram via nomin.ding !
